I cannot find uninstallers of some applications on my computer, how can I uninstall them?
Some programs do not include their uninstallers readily when you install them. You can locate and remove them easily with Fresh System. You can also get more details like publisher, version, application help link, application info link.
There is a "X" sign for some programs when I'm listing installed applications. What does it mean?
Because some applications don't uninstall themselves properly, they leave orphaned registry entries behind. "X" sign indicates obsolete entries showing programs with invalid uninstallers.
I searched for duplicate files, is it safe to clean duplicate files found?
When you search for duplicate files, they are listed in two list boxes. The list box on the left side shows the duplicate files found, the box on the right side shows all existences of the file you selected. You can safely delete the duplicate copy of the file from right list box. Note that if you delete all existences of a file original copy will also be deleted, so if you need this file keep at least one copy. Another important issue to pay attention is that, some files are marked with red, they are system files. You should also keep these files because they are used by operating system.
I opened an empty folder found by Empty Folders module, it contains another folder. How could this happen?
Empty Folders tool in Fresh System finds either empty folders or folders containing other empty folders. Thus, there exists no file in folders found by this tool.
There are some applications running automatically when Windows starts, how can I disable them?
You can easily disable or enable applications running when Windows starts with Startup Manager tool. If you want, you can also remove a startup item completely. This tool also enables you to edit startup applications or schedule other applications to run when Windows starts.
How does Temporary Files module work?
Most Windows applications create temporary files on your hard drive as they run. These files are supposed to be deleted from your computer whenever the programs are closed. However improper shutdowns, program hangs, and computer crashes often leave unnecessary temporary files on the hard drive. You can find these junk files on your hard drive by using Temporary Files module and clean them to gain disk space.

You can switch to Internet module in Fresh System to clean internet tracks on your computer. This module lists url history, temporary internet files and cookies on your computer. You can also selectively delete items in your address bar history of internet explorer. |
